et for such CD's and thereby pushing record companies to sign similar-sounding artists which leads to watered-down rip-offs (which I sadly buy) rather than new, fresh, interesting music.
I know music is an entirely different genre, but I think the theory holds. Telenovelas are the culmination of similar processes but in a different format. Which isn't to say that I'm defending the literariness of telenovelas. Rather, I think it's interesting to think about the evolution of any particular style, genre or idea from revolutionary to hackneyed.
That being said, holy cow, 'Corazon Salvaje' was really a special brand of (pungent)cheese, almost artfully predictable. When I was in Mexico, I lived in a house of 10-13 year old boys who were addicted to a telenovela called 'Mu
